UPDATE: Police shoot armed suspect in Lena after standoff

UPDATE: LENA (WREX) — The armed suspect in Lena has been shot by police officers.

According to the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office, the suspect entered Citizens Bank with a gun and left.

Once the suspect left, he engaged with police in a standoff for two hours.

When the suspect tried to run away, police shot him. The Stephenson County Sheriff's Office did not say how many times the suspect was shot or what his condition is.

LENA (WREX) — Businesses are on lockdown and authorities are on scene in downtown Lena for an armed suspect.

The Stephenson County Sheriff's Office says the armed suspect is outside of a business in downtown Lena on Schuyler St.

There are multiple people inside businesses that are on lockdown, according to authorities. No injuries are being reported at this time.

Streets are shut down and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

A crisis negotiator is on scene along with Stephenson County Sheriff's and Lena Police.
