MACHENSEY PARK (WREX) — A new diversity banner has permanently been installed at Harlem High School.

The Harlem School District says the student-designed banner displays the districts’ commitment to empowering, uplifting, and supporting all of their students.

"Students of all ages need to know that they're seen and that they're supported," Kaitlyn Hardy, the 11th grade Harlem student who designed the banner, said.

The Equity Mission of the Harlem School District is to be a model for inclusive excellence by interrupting inequities which prevent students from realizing their unlimited potential.

"It means the world to me. I know what it feels like to be a student that is forgotten at school sometimes and I am just so proud and so grateful to be apart of this project."

Harlem students will also present a banner to each of the
other district schools.
