ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WREX) — The Rock County Health Department is reminding residents the county's mask mandate is still in effect.

The reminder from the health department comes hours after Wisconsin's Supreme Court struck down Gov. Tony Evers' statewide mask mandate.

The Supreme Court ruled Gov. Evers exceeded his authority by unilaterally extending the mandate for months through multiple emergency orders.

The health department says cases in Rock County have been increasing recently and there's at least one case of the coronavirus variant in the county.

Health officials ask everyone in Rock County continue to wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands, avoid crowds and minimize indoor time with non-household members.

Rock County's current mask mandate is in effect until May 5, 2021. You can read the full order below.
