MATTESON, Ill. (WREX) — A Sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard (ILANG) has been charged with criminal sexual assault and sexual abuse.
Timothy Nichols, 32, of Dahinda, Illinois, faces two counts of sexual assault charges and one charge of criminal sexual abuse.
Illinois State Police say they were notified by the ILANG of an allegation of sexual abuse against Nichols on Jan. 8.
On March 31, 2021, after a thorough investigation by the ISP DII investigators, the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office approved two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony) and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony).
Nichols was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Knox County Jail. Nichols posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody.
No further information is available for release by the ISP.
