Late night Machesney Park shooting sends one man to the hospital


MACHESNEY PARK (WREX) — The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department says one man is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a shooting late Friday night.

Officials say the shooting took place near the intersection of North Second Street and Maple Avenue around 11:20 p.m. on Friday.

The sheriff's department found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound, and transported him to the hospital.

Authorities believe this was a road rage incident and the suspect fled the area after the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting are encouraged to call the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers.
