ROCKFORD (WREX) — Week three of the shortened high school basketball season finished up this past week, which means it's time for WREX's Top 5 Plays of the Week.

5. Hononegah's Carly LaMay with a beautiful pass to Alisha Bell down in the paint for bucket.

4. Guilford's Kyleigh Thomas with a nice steal against Hononegah and turns it into a layup on the other end.

3. Auburn's Zhakyla Evans with a nice between the legs move followed by a step-back jumper for two at Harlem.

2. In the same game, teammate Brooklyn Gray does a similar move with a nice step-back three pointer.

  1. Lutheran freshman Mike Jones gets a nice pass from senior Zach Derus and Jones finishes with a nice slam dunk.

Sam joined the WREX news team in the Spring of 2020.

He graduated from Emerson College in May of 2020, just two days before moving to Rockford to take the job at WREX as a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. He majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Sports Communication.

Sam is originally from Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and has been an avid sports fan his whole life. He played basketball and baseball in high school, and he went on to play collegiate baseball at Emerson.
