Rockford man faces child porn charges

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man is in custody and faces child porn charges.

Robert Heaslip, 65, was taken into custody on Thursday at a residence in the 2500 block of Conklin Dr.

Police say they started investigating someone for potentially owning child porn in early December of 2020.

Heaslip was later identified as a suspect. Police say Heaslip is a registered sex-offender with the State of Illinois.

Heaslip faces one count of child porn and one other count of failing to register as a sex offender.

Heaslip was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
