LASALLE COUNTY, Ill. (WEEK) - Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R) is facing some backlash from members of his own party because he's one of the most vocal GOP critics of former President Donald Trump.
Kinzinger has "neglected his duty," the LaSalle County Republican Central Committee said in a Facebook post.
"Rep. Kinzinger's remarks have reached a level of disconnect and inappropriateness that we, as his fellow Republicans and constituents, can no longer remain silent," the committee said.
"It is past time that we send a clear message that his actions and comments do not represent a significant portion of his constituents and the majority of the La Salle County Republican Central Committee," the statement said.
The organization is hosting a "Rally For Representation" this Saturday.
Kinzinger, who grew up in Bloomington, is invited to attend. The committee claims Kinzinger has not met nor communicated with the committee for the past six years despite repeated invitations.
Kinzinger represents the 16th Congressional District, which covers several counties, including Boone, DeKalb, Lee, Ogle and Winnebago.
