Phone store employee guilty of downloading customer’s sexual photos to his phone

Phone Crime

HUNTLEY, Ill. (WREX) — A Huntley man faces up to 3 years in jail for downloading a customer's sexual photos onto his phone.

Dustin Devine, 26, was found guilty of the offense of nonconsensual dissemination of a sex image, a class 4 felony.

Authorities say the incident happened at a Verizon store in Huntley, Illinois in 2018.

Officials say the victim gave her cell phone to Devine, a store employee, for him to assist her. While Devine had the victim’s phone, he transferred personal photos from the victim's cell phone to his phone, without the victim’s permission. The pictures included five sexual images she had of herself on her phone.

When confronted by Huntley police, Devine admitted that the victim’s accusations were true. Huntley police found the images on Devine’s cell phone.

Devine faces a sentence of between 1 and 3 years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections, or probation. Devine remains free on $1,500 bond.
