ROCKFORD (WREX) — The fall sports season has been quiet in the Rockford area, but Grace Betke found a way to make some noise. The Belvidere North junior committed to Texas Tech last week.

"I mean it feels really good, I'm really excited," said Betke. "I can't wait for these two years to pass by. I'm just ready to get on campus and join the team."

VC United's elite program is no stranger to division one scholarships. They sent 26 kids in the class of 2020 to play college volleyball.

"VC United has made me the player that I am," said Betke. "I definitely would not be going to Texas Tech if it weren't for Eric and Lauren Hansen. They played the biggest roles in my recruiting process."

VC United Program Director Eric Schulze knows that Grace has a bright future, and commended her energy towards the game.

"To see her have an opportunity to play Power 5 volleyball at a Big 12 university is incredible for her and for her family," said Schulze. "I would be shocked if she wasn't a starting libero within the first two years that she's down there."

She still has two more seasons of high school volleyball but after that, the next stop for Grace is Lubbock, Texas.
