ROCKFORD (WREX) — The number of Rockford Public Schools reporting positive COVID-19 cases continues to rise.
On Tuesday, three more schools sent out letters to parents about the confirmed cases. Those three schools are the following:
- Froberg Elementary School
- Eisenhower Middle School
- East High School
This brings the total number of schools reporting at least one COVID-19 case in the school district up to 17. Here's a look at the other schools having reported at least one case as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday:
- Roosevelt Education Center
- Beyer Early Childcare Center
- Summerdale Childcare Center
- Lewis Lemon Elementary School
- Maria Montessori Elementary School
- Cherry Valley Elementary School
- Carlson Elementary School
- Lathrop Elementary School
- Brookview Elementary School
- Rolling Green Elementary School
- Kennedy Middle School
- Lincoln Middle School
- Jefferson High School
- Guilford High School
Students started class again Sept. 8, with the first day of in-person learning on Sept. 10.
RPS 205 said it has contacted students, staff or families who might have recently been exposed to the virus.
Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 must isolate for 14 days and will not be able to return to school until guidance from the Winnebago County Health Department.
On Monday, the health department reported 37 schools in the county have reported at least one positive case of the virus.
Dr. Sandra Martell, the Public Health Administrator at the Winnebago County Health Department, said on Monday that schools of all ages, meaning from pre-k through colleges, have reported cases and the virus is not being transmitted in schools.
