Rockford man sentenced for role in drug overdose death

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man is sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for his role in an overdose death.

Willie Walton, 47, pleaded guilty Tuesday to second degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance, according to the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office.

Rockford Police responded to a report of a decomposing body July 28, 2017, on the 1300 block of 15th Ave.

Walton was later arrested in connection to the death for selling the woman fentanyl-laced cocaine.
