ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford woman who was involved in a deadly street racing death has been sentenced to probation.

Destiny Pendleton, 26 of Rockford, was sentenced to probation on Friday on aggravated street racing and driving with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more in blood or breath charges.

Pendleton had previously pled guilty to the offense on March 20, 2020.

Police say around 9:30 p.m. Jan. 30, 2018, police responded to the intersection of Kishwaukee Street and Sandy Hollow Road for a single car crash. A victim in that crash, 24-year-old Jateyrrica Scott, later died at a local hospital from her injuries.

Following an investigation, police determined another car was involved in the incident, and that that car was driven by Pendleton.
