Salvation Army deploys support teams to areas hit by storms, including Forreston

FORRESTON (WREX) – The Salvation Army is providing help for thousands across central Illinois and eastern Iowa following strong storms that hit the areas Monday.

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services has been deployed to more than 30 counties between the two states through its Heartland Division due to the recent derecho storm.

Food, drinks and clean-up kits are being delivered to the affected areas.

One of those areas the Salvation Army is helping includes Forreston in northern Illinois, where five people were injured and most of the village was hit hard by strong winds.

The Salvation Army will station food sites and mobile feeding locations while the communities are cleaning up the aftermath.

Anyone wishing to help support these relief efforts can make a donation directly to the Heartland Division’s EDS team online at SalArmy.US/StormRelief.
