FORRESTON (WREX) — After severe storms hit the Stateline, the Village of Forreston has declared a disaster declaration.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, village leaders say a total of 5 people were injured during the storms. While leaders did not provide any additional information on the severity of the injuries, they did say all 5 people were taken to the hospital.

Leaders say two mobile home parks, Candlelight and Spring Brook, were both hit very heavily.

Forreston's fire chief, Robert Meyers, says in his 39 years on the job, the damage at the trailer parks was "the worst I've ever seen."

"It's basically just total devastation. It's totally gone," Meyers said. "And there were a few houses too that received damage but as far as the trailer park, they're all basically gone."

The Salvation Army will be helping those in need of assistance at 605 S. Main St. in Leaf River.

All roads heading into Forreston are currently blocked off due to the storm as more than 48 blocks in the village have seen tree and power line damage.
