Fugitive on the loose after car chase, hitting Lee Co. deputy’s car

LEE COUNTY (WREX) — Lee County officials are searching for a man who they say was involved in a police chase before hitting a deputy's car and running off.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says they are looking for 34-year-old Donald E. Powell.

Powel was last seen in the area of Progress Drive and Dutch Road in Dixon; the chase started in Rock Falls. He also has an active, nationwide warrant out of Indiana.

Powell is described as a black man weighing about 135 pounds, has a tattoo located on his left arm, and has long dreadlocks.

Officials say he might be armed and if seen, to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 815-284-6631. You should not approach him.
