Sam Knox

Weekend Sports Anchor/Sports Reporter

Sam took over as the Weekend Sports Anchor and Sports Reporter in the Spring of 2020.

He graduated from Emerson College in May of 2020, just two days before moving to Rockford to take the job at WREX! He majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Sports Communication.

Sam is originally from Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and has been an avid sports fan his whole life. He played basketball and baseball in high school, and he went on to play collegiate baseball at Emerson.

“I’ve always loved sports and talking about them, so this was a clear frontrunner for what I wanted to do for a career! I would watch Red Sox broadcasts at home and mute the T.V. so I could broadcast them myself, I found a love for it early on and stuck with it, and I’m glad I did!”

When he’s not updating the community on sports news, Sam loves watching sports, and hanging out with his new friends he’s made here in Rockford. He loves dogs, a lot. Sam has one sister, who is three years older than him. His whole family lives in New England.
