At least one arrested after Back the Blue rally, protest in Rockord

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A woman who was at the Winnebago County Justice Center during the Back the Blue rally and a separate protest, was arrested.

Our cameras captured the moment the woman was detained by officers. At one point she had her hand up in front of a Winnebago County Sheriff's Officer's face.

That officer then batted a phone out of her hand and grabbed her arm. She began to scream, and he let go and returned the phone to her.

Then seconds later, more deputies moved in and arrested the woman.

It is unclear which group the woman was associated with.

Multiple other people were arrested later Saturday morning when a group of protesters moved in front of the Winnebago County Jail. The group, loosely associated with Rockford Youth Abolitionists and the May 30th Alliance, were there to speak out against police.

At least 11 people were arrested Friday evening during demonstrations outside of the City Market pavilion.
