Rivets break single-game Northwoods League record, scoring 28 runs Sunday

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Runs came at a premium on Sunday for the Rivets, as they beat the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders crossing the plate 28 times. This is a new Northwoods League record for Rockford.

Jeff Heinrich had four hits and 7 RBI's, while Jake Vander Wal had three hits and 8 RBI's. Both players homered. The Rivets scored every inning except for the bottom of the eighth, and most of their runs came in the fourth inning when they put up a nine on the scoreboard.

Fond du Lac was in sole possession of first place, but after a convincing win, the Rivets have tied the Dock Spiders for first, both sitting at 13-12 on the season.
