Whiteside County man indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting and kidnapping child

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) -- A Whiteside County man accused of sexually assaulting and kidnapping a young girl is officially indicted.

31-year-old Brandon Abell was arrested in early July.

He's accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old runaway girl in Winnebago County. Abell was arrested in Tampico in Whiteside County.

When investigators went to Abell's home in Tampico, they say they found child pornography and discovered the 12-year-old had been sexually assaulted at a home on Horace Avenue in Winnebago County.

Thursday he was indicted on six charges, including predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, child pornography and grooming.

If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 133 years in jail.
