Marengo man who shook 10-week-old son to death convicted of involuntary manslaughter

BOONE COUNTY (WREX) — A Marengo man faces up to 14 years in prison after he shook his infant son to death in 2011, according to the Boone County State's Attorney's Office.

Authorities said Robert Gee, 34, was found guilty Monday of involuntary manslaughter after a two-day bench trial in front of Hon. C. Robert Tobin III. Witnesses testified, according to State's Attorney Tricia Smith, that Gee admitted to shaking his 10-week-old son, causing the child's death on May 23, 2011.

Gee will be sentenced on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. in front of Hon. Tobin. Gee faces between 3 and 14 years in prison and must serve at least 50 percent of his sentence.
