14 hospitalized in shooting in Chicago

CHICAGO (WREX) -- Violence erupts in Chicago as 14 people were hospitalized in a shooting that happened after a funeral. Police say the 14 victims were taken to five area hospitals.

It happened in the 100 block of W. 79th St. Police say at least sixty shots were fired between two groups.

Police say a black car pulled up to the funeral and people inside started shooting at people leaving a funeral, those funeral attendees then fired back.

That car then crashed and the people inside ran. Police are interviewing a person of interest.

Chicago Police are investigating the motive, but police did have a squad car at the funeral as a precaution. Police are investigating how the two groups knew each other.

The shooting comes on the heels of the federal government deploying 150 federal agents to the city due to a spike in violence.

This is a developing story.
