Two people injured after truck vs. motorcycle head-on crash in Oregon

UPDATE: OREGON, Ill. (WREX) — Two people were sent to the hospital after being ejected during a motorcycle vs. truck head-on crash Sunday afternoon in Ogle County.

Ogle County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash just before 1 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of S. Illinois Route 2.

Police say Troy Mowry, 43, of Chana, was driving his Dodge pickup south on Route 2 when he tried to turn into a parking lot.

During that time, Mark Lampert, 64, of Batavia was heading north along Route 2 on his Harley Davidson when he approached the Dodge pickup then was struck head-on as Mowry tried to turn.

Lampert and his passenger, Candace Benton, 44, of Batavia, were thrown off the motorcycle and landed in a ditch.

Lampert was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, while Benton was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mowry was issued a citation for an improper left turn/on coming traffic.

The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities say the crash involves a truck and a motorcycle in the 2500 block of S. Illinois Route 2.

Officials say a medical helicopter has been sent to the scene.

Oregon Fire says at least two people were injured.
