Multiple people shot, one killed in Rockford early Sunday, police say

UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Police say a murder investigation is underway after a man shot Sunday morning at an apartment complex died from his injuries.

Police say the incident took place Sunday morning around 12:30 in the 500 block of Score Street in the Orton Keyes Housing Development.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the man laying in the parking lot unresponsive.

Authorities say he was shot several times and later died from his injuries at a local hospital.

The alleged suspect is described as a black male between 25-30 years old, about 5 feet and 7-11 inches tall, medium build with a white shirt and dark colored pants.

ROCKFORD (WREX) — At least four people were shot early Sunday morning in Rockford, according to police.

Around 12:30 Sunday morning, officers responded to the area of 500 Score St. for someone reportedly shot. No additional information was provided about the incident, but an investigation is ongoing.

A few hours later, Rockford Police tweeted around 3:15 a.m. about shots fired in the 1500 block of Birch Court. Police learned two people went to a local hospital after being shot. It's unclear their condition or what led up to the shooting.

Shortly after, officers were sent to the 3100 block of Liberty Drive around 5:15 a.m. after a male was shot. That victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, according to police. Authorities are continuing to investigate. No suspect information was provided.

This all comes one day after two people were shot and two vehicles along with a house were hit by gunfire in Rockford early Saturday morning on the Fourth of July.
