Illinois COVID-19 relief fund distributes $5.5M to organizations across the state, including in the Stateline
CHICAGO (WREX) — Illinois has announced the first round of funding to organizations from the state's COVID-19 relief fund.
The fund distributed $5.5 million to 30 different non-profit organizations and community foundations across the state.
The fund deploys resources to those community foundations and nonprofits in support of residents in need of: emergency food and basic supplies; interim housing and shelter; primary health care services; utility and financial assistance; supports for children and other vulnerable populations, and nonprofit safety and operations assistance.
Here's a list of the organizations receiving funding in the first round of distribution by the fund in the Northern Illinois Region:
- DeKalb County Community Foundation
- Freeport Community Foundation
- United Way of Rock River Valley
The governor says the fund has raised more than $28 million from nearly 2000 donors since its launch on Mar. 26.
