OSF HeathCare to implement pay cuts, reduce staff

PEORIA (WREX) — OSF HealthCare will make pay cuts and reduce staff as it struggles financially during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The health system announced Tuesday it would reduce salaries of top executives by at least 5 percent, with some leaders taking a 10 percent pay reduction.

OSF employees who do not deal with patients will be subject to mandatory paid time off, or in some cases unpaid leaves of absence, during which they can apply for unemployment benefits, according to the health system.

OSF will retain by seniority and years of service and will continue to provide benefits during this time, including health insurance.

The hospital system says it will also look at moving employees on a volunteer basis to other areas of need during the crisis, saying some retraining and moving employees has already been happening in some facilities.

OSF HealthCare is based in Peoria and has a hospital and clinics in the Rockford region.
