Cedarville pastor charged with sexual abuse of a minor

CEDARVILLE (WREX) — A Cedarville pastor has been charged with criminal sexual abuse of a minor.

John McIntosh, of Davis, Illinois, was charged with criminal sexual abuse of a minor. According to the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office, the alleged abuse involved a minor and happened in January of this year.

According to the sheriff's office, McIntosh turned himself in on April 1 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

McIntosh used to be the pastor at Winnishiek Evangelical Free Church, but left the church in December of 2018, according to the current pastor, Matt Mitchell.

McIntosh then became the pastor at the Cedarville Baptist Church in December of 2018, according to the Cedarville Baptist Church's website.

13 News reached out to the church by phone and on Facebook for confirmation that McIntosh is still the current pastor, but we've not heard back.
