Rockford bakery donates food to area businesses, hospitals and police departments

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford bakery wanted to show its appreciation for workers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Nothing Bundt Cakes dropped off roughly 1,000 bundlets, mini bundt cakes, to businesses, police departments and hospitals in Rockford.

On Monday, the bakery went to several small businesses and dropped off 15 of their large cakes throughout those small places.

On Tuesday, they dropped off 750 bundlets to SwedishAmerican Hospital.

The owner of the store says its the least they could do for businesses staying open.

"It's very nice and it's fulfilling when you get to do something like this and bring joy to people at a time that's kind of dark. So if it brings a smile to their faces, then it's a lot of fun," says Dave Caulk, the owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes.

The bakery plans on dropping off 500 bundlets at OSF on Wednesday before dropping off food next week at both Mercyhealth locations.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is offering curb side delivery and pick-up during the state's shelter in place.
