Pritzker: 180 applicants of retired nurses, doctors to rejoin workforce

CHICAGO (WREX) — Governor JB Pritzker says dozens of retired of nurses and doctors have already reapplied for their license to rejoin the workforce to help combat COVID-19.

Gov. Pritzker made the announcement on Tuesday during his daily press briefing in Chicago. Applicants were able to start applying for their licenses on Monday.

Gov. Pritzker made the initial call for retired nurses and doctors to come back into the workforce on Saturday to help battle the virus.

"We're in the middle of a battle and we need assistance," Pritzker said on Saturday.

All applications will be processed on an expedited process.
