Wrestlers bring gold, silver back from state finals

CHAMPAIGN (WREX) - The IHSA individual wrestling state finals brought the pageantry back to the State Farm Center for another year of championship grappling, with a lot of local athletes competing on the mat.

Dakota's Phoenix Blakely (Class 1-A 120 pounds) and Winnebago's Bryce Faworski (Class 1-A 160 pounds) were the biggest local winners of the night, each winning state championships in their respective weight classes.

Freeport's Markel Baker (2-A 113 pounds), Dakota's Andrew Wenzel (1-A 170 pounds), and Byron's Peyton Lind and Tyler Elsbury (1-A 220 and 285 pounds) all finished in second place in their title matches.
