ROCKFORD (WREX) - Harlem girls bowling's fourth straight trip to the medal stand yielded its second straight silver medal at the IHSA state series at the Cherry Bowl.
The Lady Huskies' 11,955 score was 98 pins better than third place Minooka, good enough to take home state runner-up honors. Lockport won the state title by 398 pins over Harlem.
Lady Huskies junior Olivia Watton completed an run to third place on the individual leaderboard with a 2,562 score, 181 pins out of first place. Her teammate Paige Carpenter had the sixth best individual score.
"At the beginning of this year, I heard doubters," said Harlem head coach Jim Heathscott. "The girls heard doubters. They kept fighting and building, and we came together at the end. The last four weeks have been phenomenal."
