Fire destroys roofing company building in DeKalb

DEKALB (WREX) — The DeKalb Fire Department says a fire destroyed a roofing company building Friday night.

Officials say it happened at the Standard Roofing Company, which is located on the 1100 block of South 7th Street around 6:54 p.m. in DeKalb.

Upon arrival, officials say they found a rapidly growing fire that was coming from the roof of the building.

It took fire crews three hours to put out the fire.

Numerous departments responded to the fire, including the DeKalb Fire Department, the Rochelle Fire Department, the Sycamore Fire Department and six other nearby crews.

The building is deemed a total loss, with roughly $900,000 in damages.

No one was hurt from the fire and there is no word on what caused the fire.

The fire is under investigation.
