WASHINGTON D.C. (WREX) — Rockford Housing Authority is going to be receiving nearly $5 million from federal grants.
Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (17th District) made the announcement on Tuesday. Bustos says a total of nearly $23 million in federal grant money will go towards several housing authorities across Illinois.
Public Housing Capital Funds program grants are awarded to Public Housing Authorities to support the development, financing and modernization of Public Housing properties and management improvements.
“It’s crucial families across Illinois have access to affordable and reliable housing,” Congresswoman Bustos said. “Today’s announcement is a major investment in our communities and will equip our cities to help address this issue. I’ll continue to do everything in my power to support our neighbors through programs like these.”
Here's a breakdown of of the funding by recipient of the grant in the Stateline:
- Rockford Housing Authoritiy: $4,519,513
- Housing Authority of the City of Freeport: $776,416
- Winnebago County Housing Authority: $489,546
Part of the federal money will also go towards Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) program.
Rockford will be receiving $2,171,919 in funding for CDBG grants.
