PECATONICA (WREX) — After trailing by 11 after the 1st quarter, Eastland fought back and beat Stockton, 61-49, to advance to the 1-A Pecatonica Sectional final. Stockton jumped out to a 21-10 lead after a big 1st quarter, but the Lady Cougars chipped away, making it a 4 point game at the half.

After being shut out in the 1st half, Eastland's all-time leading scorer Erin Henze erupted for 17 points in the 2nd half to lead the comeback offensively. Head coach Nicole Brinker is proud of the way her defense sparked the comeback.

"I'm super proud of them," Brinker said. "It came from the defense. Chloe Sweitzer, the little sophomore, did a great job on [Tiana] Timpe. The rest of the kids settled down. It was very physical. They fought their way back. When we needed to make the plays down the stretch they were able to do that."

Eastland advances to the Sectional final Thursday against the winner of Amboy and Galena. They play Tuesday night at 7 o'clock at Pecatonica.
