Corey Anderson knocked out at UFC Fight Night

RIO RANCHO, NM (WREX) - Rockton native Corey Anderson suffered a knockout loss at UFC Fight Night 167 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Headlining the event against Jan Błachowicz, Anderson brought a four-fight winning streak into the bout as the #5 ranked light heavyweight in the division's rankings. Błachowicz was #6 in those rankings, with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones sitting in the front row, potentially scouting his next opponent in a title match.

The first three minutes of the first round featured both fighters sizing each other up, and then at the 3:08 mark of the opening round, Błachowicz caught Anderson with a big right hand, knocking him to the canvas. He delivered one more blow to the head, stopping the fight. He earned a KO victory, and some redemption - Anderson defeated Błachowicz in their first meeting back in 2015.

The loss is Anderson's fifth career professional defeat. Four of them are by knockout.
