Rockford man accused of sexually assaulting a child

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man is accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Pierre Hayes, 22, of Rockford, was taken into custody on Friday.

Authorities say they were called to a home last month to investigate a report of a sexual assault to a juvenile under the age of 13.

Police investigated the incident and identified Hayes as the suspect.

Police say Hayes shared a domestic relationship with the victim's mother.

Hayes is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault and his bond is set at $500,000. He is being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
