UIC campus in Rockford to receive millions in funding

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Governor J.B. Pritzker announces hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for different institutions across the state, including the UIC health sciences campus in Rockford.

$500million is going to the University of Illnois System's Illinois Innovation Network and Discovery Partners Institute. The university system has also pledged to get $500 million in corporate and philanthropic funding.

The governor's office says the technology hub is expected to create or fill 48,000 new-economy jobs over the next decade.
