Rockford woman charged with drug-induced homicide

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford woman faces two counts of drug-induced homicide charges.

Suzette Vazquez, 33, of Rockford, is currently being held in the Winnebago County Jail.

Authorities say the incident occurred in Oct. of 2019 at a residence in the 1100 block of Benton St. First responders say they were called for an unresponsive adult female.

The woman was pronounced dead by the coroner's office. She was later identified as Elizabeth Bermudez Cruz.

An autopsy determined the cause of death to be the adverse effects of fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl and cocaine.

Vazquez also faces two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. Her bond is set at $300,000.
