ROCKFORD (WREX) — Some judges got out of the courtroom and into the classroom to celebrate Abe Lincoln's birthday.
Judge Gwyn Gulley of the 17th Circuit Court read to students at Constance Lane Elementary School.
It's a part of a statewide project called Page it Forward. The tradition started in 2014 from the Illinois Judges Association.
"If you read to them and make reading fun and make them appreciate reading then it will go with them for the rest of their lives," Judge Gulley said.
More than 1,200 judges are a part of the Illinois Judges Association.
