ROCKFORD (WREX) - The IHSA girls bowling state series got rolling on Saturday as teams from across the region start what they hope is a three-week run through the postseason to Cherry Bowl.

Harlem's streak of three straight trips to the medal stand (2 golds, 1 silver) looks to be alive and well after a dominant performance at the Don Carter-hosted regional. The Lady Huskies won the team title by 810 pins. Harlem junior Olivia Watton won the individual regional title with a 1274 score.

Hononegah, Guilford and Marengo were the other three teams advancing to sectionals. Advancing individuals include Boylan's Annemarie Ruzevich, two Belvidere North bowlers (Rachel Nelson, Kalaya Smelter), two Belvidere Lady Bucs (Danielle Heinz, Paige Smith), two East bowlers (Jurnee Williams, McKayla Gary), Auburn's Caitlyn Bannister, Jefferson's Alex Lieving, and Lutheran's Paige Garr-Koch.

The Dixon girls bowling regional sent Oregon, Sycamore, and Freeport to sectionals as teams. They'll be joined by Dixon's Tianna Bryson, Tori Baker, Riley Kavanaugh, and Kaylie Yocum. Sycamore's Megan Kolberg won individual regional honors with a 1411.

Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb hosts sectionals next Saturday.
