SwedishAmerican unveils self-serve pharmacy kiosk

ROCKFORD (WREX) — If you need to pick-up a prescription from SwedishAmerican, you can now do it via a kiosk.

The hospital unveiled the first self-serve pharmacy in the Northern Illinois region on Thursday.

The "ScriptCenter" can be used by patients, their family members and employees. Prescriptions are available to be picked up at the kiosk 24/7.

“This easy access approach to prescription refills is safe, private, and convenient,” said SwedishAmerican Director of Pharmacy Tom Carey. “It works for patients when a traditional pharmacy doesn’t by allowing patients to pick up prescriptions when it’s convenient for them.”

The kiosk is filled twice a day, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Patients receive a “Claim Check” via text or email when their prescriptions are ready for pick-up.

“Anything called in by 2 p.m. is guaranteed to be filled and put into the ScriptCenter kiosk on the same day,” said SwedishAmerican Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy Manager Lisa Dyer. “The only medications that we cannot dispense through the kiosk are those needing refrigeration or unique instructions.”

ScriptCenter is available at the hospital's main campus at 1401 E. State St.
