MACHESNEY PARK (WREX) — Harlem senior bowler Ethan Pash is our newest WREX Athlete of the Week.

Pash won an individual Regional championship and helped his team qualify for state at last weekend's Sectional tournament. Pash helped Harlem win a state championship last year, so he knows the mentality it takes to succeed at that level.

"If you strike, be happy," Pash said. "If you leave a ten pin, oh well, come back and pick it up."

Pash always has more than the next throw on his mind. A look down at his arm is a constant reminder. He has the phrase, "Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us everyday," tattooed on his right arm.

"My grandpa passed away when I was too young," Pash explains. "I don't remember much about him but I've heard stories about how much he loved us when we were little."

He also lost his grandma to Alzheimer's.

"Trying to win a state title, doing this for her, would be awesome," Pash said.

Pash and his Harlem teammates will compete at state this weekend in O'Fallon.
