Third-party inspector will survey Winnebago Landfill

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Officials for the Illinois Attorney General's Office and the Winnebago Landfill were in court again Thursday morning for an update in its lawsuit.

An attorney for the state told Judge Lisa Fabiano the state and the Landfill have agreed to have a third-party inspect and study the Landfill to determine the issues associated with it.

The third-party inspector would be paid for by the Landfill, but would report to the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

The study could take months to complete.
