Collins Aerospace partners with Discovery Center for mobile STEM lab

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Discovery Center Museum is working with another Rockford business to help bring science, technology, engineering and math to others.

Collins Aerospace Systems gave $75,000 to the museum to buy a mobile STEM lab. The lab will offer outreach programming through STEM activities to students in Rockford schools.

The lab is also going to give outreach to people in Madison and Chicago.

Collins Aerospace says this benefits the company and the Rockford region.

"By stemming interest in the area, no pun intended, it provides a large base of interest in an area that we already have over 120 businesses involved in, which is the Rockford Area Aerospace Network," says Eric Cunningham with Collins Aerospace.

Twelve schools in Rockford are involved in the museum's after school programs, but the lab will travel to more than 100 schools.
