Rep. Adam Kinzinger sent on Air Guard mission

(WREX) -- Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R) IL-16 is currently serving in his role with the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In a Tuesday tweet, his Communications Director Maura Gillespie announced the congressman was sent on a mission in the U.S. over the weekend.

"The Congressman is proud to serve his IL-16 community and humbled by the opportunity to balance this honor wit his service as a reconnaissance pilot in the Air Guard," the statement said.

This is not the first time Rep. Kinzinger has been sent on a mission while serving in Congress. In February, he was deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Gillespie said Rep. Kinzinger's offices in both Illinois and Washington D.C. will keep the congressman updated while he is away.
