Three people killed in crash involving limousine in southern Illinois

POPE COUNTY, Ill. (WREX) — Three people are dead after a two vehicle crash where one of the vehicles involved was a limousine.

Illinois State Police say it happened around 3:30 Sunday morning on IL Rt. 34 in Pope County, Illinois.

Authorities say a Dodge Charger crossed the center line and crashed head on with a limousine.

When officers arrived on scene, the Dodge Charger was fully engulfed in flames, according to police.

Authorities say the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead on the scene.

One of the nine passengers on the limousine were also killed in the crash, according to police. The other eight passengers were taken to the hospital for their injuries, but police did not specify on the severity of those injuries.

The crash is still being investigated.
