Driver with “medical emergency” slams into Illinois Starbucks

McHENRY (AP) — Police say the driver of a pickup truck had a "medical emergency" before slamming into a Starbucks.

According to police a driver in a pickup truck ran into a Starbucks due to a "medical emergency." They said in a statement on Friday the driver will not be cited or charged.

The statement said the driver was a 53-year-old man from Lakemoor.

A McHenry police spokesperson told the Associated Press he could not release more information on the man's medical issue.

Police say the pickup truck ran off the road in McHenry and struck another vehicle at the drive-thru window before hitting the building. They say one person was trapped under the truck.

Four people were taken to hospitals and a fifth was treated on scene.
