ROCKFORD (WREX) —  The Rockford Police Department is one step closer to expanding its ROCK House program.

Rockford City Council's Code & Regulation Committee approved a third ROCK House that would be located at 1233 Revell Avenue in Rockford. The ROCK House program is where officers live in neighborhoods they patrol. Officials hope that a new ROCK House will help improve the community in that area.

"We still struggle with putting together a strong neighborhood association in there, but on top of that it's a great location because it's within arms reach of various schools there," said Asst. Deputy Chief Mike Dalke of the Rockford Police Department.

There are already two houses in the program. One is located on North Winnebago Street and the other is on 15th Street.

The third ROCK House moves to city council for a vote on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
