Two people arrested on meth charges in Belvidere

BELVIDERE (WREX) — Two people are in custody after police recover more than 230 grams of meth from a home in Belivdere.

Elizabeth Mendoza, 42, and Angel Alvarado, 22, were taken into custody.

The State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) announced the arrests on Friday.

Mendoza faces three counts of lawful delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) , one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (methamphetamine), one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of armed violence.

Alvarado was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID.

Officers recovered a total of 233 grams of methamphetamine, 9.3 grams of cocaine, eight pills of Xanax and five guns.
