Police: Man threatened officer, officer’s family during arrest

STEPHENSON COUNTY (WREX) — Freeport Police say they have arrested a man, and that the man now faces additional charges because he threatened the officer and the officer's family during his arrest.

Police say Felix Lopez is charged with resisting a peace officer and faces charges for failure to appear arrest warrant.

They say at around 3 p.m. Thursday, officers attempted to play Lopez under arrest on an outstanding warrant. Police say Lopez clenched his fist in a way that made officers think he was going to swing at them. When he was taken to the ground and arrested, police say he threatened bodily harm to one of the officers and their family members.

Lopez is in the Stephenson County Jail and his bond has been set at $50,000.
